The counselor coordinator position is a leadership position over all cabin teams at camp. This person provides leadership and support to our counselors, campers and ranch hands. They assist in problem solving any camper or counselor challenges and strives to set all cabin teams up for success. This position assists in making weekly cabin assignments, holds cabin staff accountable and ensures they are adequately meeting their job requirements to ensure campers are having a safe, fun and successful camp experience. This position helps with the coordination and training of ranch hands (CIT’s).

The program coordinator position is a leadership position over all program areas at camp. This person provides leadership and support to the program rover and rec. ranger interns. This position develops camp activities and events in conjunction with the program rover and interns. This person will maintain program supply inventories for planned activities. This person holds program staff accountable and ensures activities are safe and create a quality camp experience for our campers and staff. This person will serve as the aquatics supervisor over water activities and assist with lifeguard as needed. This position assists with the coordination and training of rec. ranger program interns.

Activities & Camper Care Floater
Requirements

- Enjoy being outdoors for extended periods of time
- Be willing to live in a cabin with other camp staff and campers
The floater position serves as the primary lifeguard for all camp water activities. This person will maintain water activity safety as their top priority ensuring a safe and fun water experience for staff and campers. When not overseeing the pool and fulfilling lifeguard duties during the day, the floater will assist the program coordinator in all aspects of camp activities and assist with camper care during morning and evening hygiene times. This may involve assisting with activity set-up, leading activities, assisting with toileting and bathing and providing additional support to the counselors as needed.

Camp Counselor
Requirements

- Have a heart for working with campers who have a developmental or intellectual disability
- Be willing to live in a cabin with other camp staff and campers
- Desire to have fun, make memories, and grow as a person in the best possible way
Camp Counselors are the heart of our camp staff and get the privilege of directly serving our campers and helping them experience that camp magic. Our counselors work with a co-counselor and ranch hand to serve eight campers in their cabin team each session. Counselors will assist their campers as needed with aspects of camp life to include cabin time, daily living skills, activities, camp events and meals. You’ll sing camp songs, do arts and crafts, go swimming, hang with horses and other ranch animals, roast marshmallows, play sports and games, fish, canoe, dance, make up cabin cheers and play pranks.

Camp Medic
Requirements

- Must have an RN, LVN, LPN or EMT current certification
- Prior experience handling and passing medication
- Ability to live on-site at camp during camp sessions
- Compassionate and organized
Our camp medic provides medical support to campers and camp staff. This position is responsible for handling and dispersing all camper and staff medications, responding to any medical emergencies at camp, administering first aid and making medical recommendations as needed. This person will check-in all camper medications, create MARS forms for campers and organize med passes for camp to ensure campers and staff receive their medication as needed. This position will be overseen by the RN of the Down Home Ranch medical staff in addition to the camp manager.

Nutritionist
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age

- Must have or be willing to obtain a food handlers certification
- Prior professional kitchen experience preferred
The nutritionist develops menus, completes food ordering, oversees meal prep, dishes and food inventory. The nutritionist will maintain health department standards, food safety standards and a safe work environment at all times. This position assists with camper and staff dietary restrictions and adjusts the menu for these individual restrictions as needed. This position may or may not live on-site during the summer depending on needs of candidate.

Rec Ranger (Program Intern)

Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age with one year of college preferred

- Be majoring in an area of program interest or have a hobby/experience in the program area of interest
- Be comfortable leading an activity to a group of people
- Be organized and able to create activity plans
- Be able to commit at minimum to one full camp session plus orientation
The Rec Rangers serve as activity directors over a specific activity area of camp. The four positions available are arts and crafts, nature and barnyard, sports and games, and creative arts. Each position is in charge of planning specific activities for their activity area and completing activity plans ensuring safety and quality standards are met. Rec. Rangers will also assist with evening camp events such as the talent show, cookout, banquet/dance and theme night. This is a great opportunity to get hands on program experience in a fun and creative environment. Stipends for internship positions may be available. Room and board is included for internship positions.

Requirements
- Must be 15-18 years old
- Complete a TB test
- Have transportation to and from camp each day
- Be able to commit to at least one full camp session plus an orientation
- Be interested in working with campers with a developmental or intellectual disability
- Enjoy being outdoors and participating in camp activities.
This is an exciting position for high school students interested in serving at camp and wanting to learn the ropes of being a counselor! Ranch hands will be assigned a cabin team to work with for the week. We accept eight ranch hands each session, four male and four female. As a ranch hand you’ll work directly with the counselors assisting them with cabin time, meals, and activities and be in on all the fun and excitement camp has to offer. Ranch hands must to commit to at least one session of camp and serve Sunday evening-Friday morning. At this time Ranch hands are not permitted to stay the night at camp so will need to leave camp in the evening and return in the morning. Meals while at camp are provided.
