WEEKEND DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL
Requirements
- Minimum age of 21
- Complete a background check, drug test and TB test
- Either be scheduled to work or be identified as a backup for at least 2 weekends a month
- Promotes health and wellness of all individuals supported, including supervising and conducting medication pass
- Completes work with a high degree of autonomy
- Outstanding interpersonal relationship building
- Stay over the weekend in the home with individuals served
- Assists with meal preparation and household chores
Weekend DSP
The Weekend DSP works to enhance the ability for individual with disabilities to lead a self-determined life by providing the support and information necessary to build self-esteem, assertiveness and to make decisions.
Typical work schedule consists of supporting individuals in the home Friday 4:30pm to Sunday at 5:00pm; hours will be adjusted according to the needs of Down Home Ranch.

Time Off
Qualified employees accrue paid time off (PTO) and receive time off for bereavement and jury duty, as well as eight paid holidays each year. Family Medical Leave is also available for up to 12 consecutive or non-consecutive weeks in any 12-month period subject to FMLA guidelines.
Employees begin accruing time after 90 days. Employees receive 2 weeks of paid time off within the first year, with increases in PTO with years of service.
All full-time employees are eligible for holiday pay. The following are paid holidays:
- New Year's Day
- Martin Luther King Jr.
- Memorial Day
- Juneteenth
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
Holidays that fall on a Saturday will be acknowledged on the preceding Friday. Holidays that fall on Sunday will be acknowledged on the Monday immediately following.
Professional Development
An employee may be provided PTO to attend a conference or training of their choice that benefits both the employee and the Ranch. The employee may request assistance with associated fees, which may or may not be wholly or partially covered by the Ranch. If the assistance is over $500 per instance, the employee will be asked to complete a training reimbursement agreement.
Eligible employees will also receive CPR certification, SAMA training and Texas Food Handlers certification free of cost.
Medical
Healthcare benefits become available for qualified employees the 1st day of the new month following 60 days of employment. Down Home Ranch pays up to 85% of health insurance costs and up to 60% of dental costs (rates vary based on selection). Down Home Ranch offers options for upgraded dental and vision plans, and for spouse and family health and dental coverage.
Employees can also utilize the Employee Assistance Program, which provides free and confidential personal counseling. Additionally, Down Home Ranch offers employees low cost vision coverage, critical illness, and accident insurance.

Life Insurance
Down Home Ranch pays 100% for $20,000 in life insurance for qualified employees with additional supplement options. Additionally, Down Home Ranch pays 100% for long-term disability for qualified employees.
Retirement
After 1 year of employment, Down Home Ranch will match up to 4% of a qualified employee’s salary into a 403(b) retirement account.
