You have something with deep roots.

The product you're holding carries a fascinating story. Its journey began its life at Down Home Ranch in Elgin, Texas. Down Home Ranch is not your ordinary ranch. It was founded in 1989 by a group of visionaries who envisioned a special place where individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDDs) could thrive. They wanted to create a community that is wholly dedicated to helping these individuals live their best lives, discover their creative passions, make a positive impact on others and embrace meaningful life experiences.

This is the essence of Down Home Ranch. We pursue this mission through various means, and one of them is by offering unique opportunities through our Enterprise initiatives, such as the sale of plants through DHR Gardens, egg sales and by offering the Ranchers the opportunity to sell their own hand-made crafts.

Our Gardens program not only provides meaningful jobs for Ranchers, it creates an additional revenue stream for the mission. From Spring florals to succulents; Easter Lilies and holiday poinsettias, we sell right here on the Ranch, at local nurseries and even offer wholesale opportunities.

Can you really call it a ranch if you don't harvest fresh chicken eggs? Ranchers collect over 3,000 eggs a season, meaning we've got dozens of fresh farm eggs available. Buy them by the dozen and enjoy ranch raised eggs!

Many of the Ranchers at DHR are incredibly talented artists who sell their creations as a way to earn money for themselves, and to share their crafts with supporters of Down Home Ranch. Our online store offers a number of rancher-created designs available for purchase.
