The heart of Down Home Ranch has always been the residential program. These unique living options support a rural community lifestyle and personal growth.
The first service provided on the Ranch was with three people who traveled from Taylor, Texas to meet up with Judy on a windy day in April 1990. Five short years later, Ranch Camp began by offering youth and adults with IDD and other cognitive disabilities with an unforgettable overnight experience filled with fishing, songs and campfires. In 1999 the first Rancher began living on the Ranch.
Over 30 years later, the Ranch is one of only a few organizations nationally to operate both a specialized camp for people with disabilities, as well as a Medicaid funded Long-term Services and Supports.
More than 90% of the people with disabilities who call the Ranch home today, attended camp.
