Upon striking up a conversation with someone new, Clyde always asks for their name and where they’re from. He uses these details to make connections to his own heritage and past historical events. From the start, you can tell that being a historian comes so naturally to him. Clyde first became interested in history when learning about the Civil War in his 8th grade history course. He quickly became fascinated with United States history and began spending his spare time reading books, watching movies and going to museums to learn more. When approached today he can tell you every single war the U.S. has been a part of, including the outcome of the war and any key figures. To Clyde, U.S. war history is incredibly personal to him. A few years ago he created an Ancestry account to do a thorough search on his family’s lineage. He discovered many of his ancestors fought in WWII, making it his favorite historical event to learn about today. Clyde is very proud to be a history enthusiast. When asked what makes history so fun, he replied “You see, it’s like traveling back in time!”
