DHR’s 2022 LIMITLESS campaign is inspired by the incredible community of individuals we serve. There is never a day where we are not moved by the Ranchers’ dedication, innovative ideas and ability to defy limits. Witnessing the Rancher’s priceless reactions of pride, triumph and independence propels our mission forward 365/24/7.
Rancher Neil’s story is just one example of limitless achievements. In addition to working two days a week as a Ranch Hand on the Animal Husbandry Team, Neil has embraced his entrepreneurial spirit. When Neil is not busy helping to care for the DHR animals, you will most likely find him creating beautiful works of art in the DHR enterprise room or wood shop.
Last winter Neil first expressed interest in jewelry-making to his mother, Donna. Jewelry-making became the perfect activity for the duo on extra cold days when being outdoors was not an option. So, after a trip to the craft store, Neil and Donna began learning the craft. Together, they would come up with designs and created a system of sorting and stringing beads that worked best for Neil.
“It was a bonding experience and something that we both really enjoy doing.” expressed Donna.
Neil’s favorite pieces to design are necklaces. He enjoys using “different kinds of beads and charms to make them beautiful.” His gorgeous, one-of-a-kind pieces have become best-sellers at the DHR markets and pop-up events. At our recent Fall Fest & Market Days, Neil had a very impressive $300 in sales! He plans to “use some of the money to take Julia on a date” Neil excitedly exclaimed while pointing to his long-term girlfriend. “Maybe to a restaurant or out shopping.”
After mastering the art of jewelry-making, Neil was inspired to pursue another artistic medium and recently enrolled in the DHR wood working class. “It’s a very fun class” expresses Neil. In addition to completing various projects alongside the other Rancher craftsmen, Neil took initiative to complete an individual project, which sold at Fall Fest for a pretty penny!
Neil’s hand-crafted works of art are so much more than just objects. They are examples of the limitless opportunities, limitless abilities and limitless life found at Down Home Ranch.
